Overview
Our Infomorph Live X Plugin is the simplest plugin for RICOH THETA X to stream 360 degrees video and audio in real-time. If you use "RICOH THETA V" or "RICOH THETA Z1", please refer the page for them. We prepare the different plugin for them. By registering your ID and your THETA devices at live.infomorph.jp, you can get the URL for your device. By using the URL, your remote online friends can see and talk with you by using your THETA and their smartphone’s or PC’s browser.
It is so simple to start a live streaming. The live streaming will start by just launching the plugin after connecting THETA to Internet. This plugin uses WebRTC technology. WebRTC is the interactive communications technology which is used widely as a web conference technology. Therefore, you can talk between the THETA holder and the viewer. Video resolution and frame rate depend on the network environment. They are up to 4K 30fps under the best network condition. THETA or browser attempt to connect P2P (pear to pear): direct connection, but if it cannot achieved, the it may relayed via TURN server. Even in the relayed case, we don't touch the connection. You can confirm the number of connections in the browser, it should be two if the connection is configured by one browser and one THETA.
<Caution>
This service is provided as a preview version with free of charge and for personal use only. This service may stop or changed suddenly without advance notice. And this service limits the use-case as single P2P session and for short term session. Of course, we can remove such limitations. We can modify the setting easily to use SFU server for many-users connection. But if you think to broadcast to many people for many hours, we recommend you to use YouTube live streaming plugin which is provided from Ricoh. We can also support your use-case.
This service will have a benefit to your business, e.g. factory audit, construction audit, remote real-estate preview, remote on-site witnessing and so on. If you think to use this service in your business or have any questions, please contact us.
How To Use
If you are using RICOH THETA X, you can use it by following the steps below.
If you are using RICOH THETA V / Z1, please refer to here.
Step "1. Preparation" describes how to connect RICOH THETA to the Internet, and step "2. User and THETA Registration" describes the preparation required to start using this service. The procedure "3. VR Live Chat" explains how to actually use this service. After the preparations for steps 1 and 2 are completed, you can use this service by performing only step 3.
1. Prepare
1-1. Connect THETA X to Internet
By connecting RICOH THETA X and a wireless LAN router, you can install the plug-in from the camera.

1-2. Install Plug-in
Swipe left on the camera's shooting screen to display the plug-in selection screen. Tap the store button (shown on the right) at the top of the screen to display the plugin store site. Select "Infomorph Live X" from there and tap the install button.
1-3. Launch Infomorph Live X plug-in (at the first time)
Display the plug-in selection screen. A list of installed plugins is displayed. You can launch the plug-in by tapping the "Infomorph Live X" you just installed.
When the plug-in starts, press and hold the "Mode button" on the side of the main unit to exit the plug-in.
2. Resister User/THETA X
This URL is your management hub of Infomorph Live service.
We may invalidate this link to limit the uses. In this case, please ask us by email, if you want to create account.
3. Input your Email.
４．Input your name and your password.
５．Select your THETA model and serial number.
Here, in the red square, the THETA model is "RICOH THETA V", and the serial number is "00123456.
And press "Resister Device"
If you registered several devices, you can see your device list here.
6. The new URL will be shown if the registration is succeeded. Click the URL to see the device's live streaming. If you want to change the URL, press "Revice URL" button.
3. Start VR Chat
3-1. [THETA side] Start the plug-in
Swipe left on the camera's shooting screen to display the plug-in selection screen. Tap "Infomorph Live X" to launch the plugin.
If the registration on the THETA management page is completed normally by the above procedure, communication will start automatically when the plug-in is started.
3-2. [THETA side] Put into standby state
When the plug-in starts, communication starts automatically and waits the connection by the another party.
3-2. [Another party] Access the URL with a browser
When you connect to the URL corresponding to THETA used on the management page (https://live.infomorph.jp) from your browser, the video will be displayed and the call will start.
3-3. [THETA side] Check the plug-in display
When the call starts, the other party's image is displayed on the THETA screen.
When you move the area of the 360-degree video displayed by the other party, the part of the video that the other party is looking at is displayed as a red dot on the THETA screen.

Q1: Which browser is supported?

We tested with Safari for MacOS/iOS, Chrome for Windows/Android.
Q2: Can we use with USB by Live streaming (UVC) mode of THETA?
A1: Yes, once, you create your URL for the meeting room. You can use UVC mode for Infomorph Live.
